I am an artist born in Hoorn and based in The Hague, Netherlands. My practice is mostly painting based and revolves around making sense of the relationship between time and material through a variety of formal connections and connotations. It explores how a historical narrative is constructed based on material finds and how a narrative can be manipulated and mythologized. The works emulates cave walls and excavations in an effort to insert my own narrative in a larger human timeline. It exists at an intersection of many dualistic contradictions such as science vs. art, material vs. immaterial, trash vs. treasure and the personal vs. the historical.
